Update from MPD:
“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Monday, April 11, 2022, in the 3000 block of 13th Street, Northwest.
At approximately 10:50 pm, members of the Third District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, the members located a juvenile male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and found that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The victim remained on scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The decedent has been identified as 15 year-old Malachi Jackson, of Northwest, DC.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”
MPD reported at 11:51pm: “Alert: Shooting Investigation at 2254 hours in the 3000 block of 13th St NW. No lookout at this time”
Alan Henney reported just before 11pm: “CRITICAL SHOOTING AFTER MORE GUNFIRE IN COLUMBIA HEIGHTS— 13th St and Columbia Rd NW DC. Man down in the street after several shots rang out. He is unconscious.”
