“Does DC law require stores to honor the price offered on the shelf/label when the register charges more?”

“Dear PoPville,

At the P Street Whole Foods I was charged 20% more at the register than the price offered on the shelf. After a 10-minute wait at the customer service desk and another 10 minutes of interrupted discussions they agreed to an exchange giving the lower price at a savings of $1.15. They didn’t take the label off the shelf for the next customer either. (A couple of years ago when this happened they gave me the item at no cost and also issued a $5 courtesy credit, which took the bad taste away). Other stores honor the offered price with even more reluctance. There’s a perception that it’s required by consumer protection law, but does anyone have source or citation to offer when pushing back.”

Lexi Grant, an operations manager at Well-Paid Maids, shared her go-to spring cleaning tips with WTOP News. Step one? Declutter. Get rid of items you don’t use, find space for items that need a home and organize those areas.

Then, it’s time to dust. Lexi starts with high-touch surface areas (think: refrigerator, dishwasher, counters, microwave). One area she sees often neglected is the bedroom — and it makes sense. Heavy furniture is difficult to move around, but it’s important to really get in there so dust doesn’t affect your sleep.
