“Dear PoPville,
Last night around 2:45am I was woken up by a loud sound, it sounded like a car hitting something. A few seconds later I heard a guy yelling so I looked out the window and across the street he was yelling “I tried to help you! What did you do!” So I look down out of my window and there is a car on the sidewalk that had run over a flower bed (including the small metal enclosure around the flowers) and it looked like it hit the patio area of Hot and Juicy.
So the guy yelling walks across the street to my side of the street and the driver gets out of his car and is only wearing boxers, holding his clothes. They leave the car and walk away and a few minutes later I decide I should take some pictures in case nothing happens with the car and they don’t come back, and I can at least have the photos and call the cops in the morning if I need to. So I didn’t see the driver come back to the car but as I was taking pictures, a cop pulled up.
The cop gets out and asks the driver (who is now wearing clothes) “hey are you OK?” And the driver says “it’s OK I called the cops” to which the cop responded “I am the cops.”So there was a long period after the license and registration time, and at this point it’s still raining, so neither the cop or driver are standing out of their vehicle. And eventually the cop comes back to the driver and his car and I hear him say here’s your license, registration and citations and the tow truck is on its way.
There were no handcuffs used and no arrest. And the driver talked to the cop a couple more times and then the tow truck came (applause for the tow truck driver, that car was not in an easy spot but he somehow got it out). And while the tow truck driver was trying to get the car off the sidewalk the driver, who had grabbed a bag of stuff from his truck before the tow truck driver started moving his car, talked to the cop and I guess confirmed he was okay to leave because he walked away. So the front of the car was dented in as you’d expect if your car hit metal rails and there was a piece hanging off the side and on the ground and it’s a big old mess. Overall it was about an hour from the sound of the car hitting Hot and Juicy’s patio until the tow truck left.”
