From a press release:

Hong Kong-inspired Tiger Fork in Blagden Alley is celebrating an extra-special Chinese New Year this year, which happens to be the eponymous Year of the Tiger, and the restaurant’s 5-year anniversary. From February 1-13, Tiger Fork will serve of a special a la carte menu of symbolic Cantonese dishes for both dine-in and takeout, each representing a specific virtue to bring good luck for the coming year. And during dinner service on Saturday, February 5, the festive restaurant will host traditional Lion Dancers, performing ceremonies to bring prosperity and good fortune in 2022.

In addition to Tiger Fork’s regular menu, Executive Chef Jong Son has created several dish specials designed to bring good luck in the New Year, available a la carte for both dine-in and takeout from 2/1-2/13:

Steamed Black Bass ($50)

whole black sea bass, cremini mushroom, scallion, ginger, citrus soy, rice

Beef Chow Fun ($20)
beef cheeks, rice noodle, scallion, ginger, garlic, bean sprout, sweet soy

Chicken & Chive Spring Rolls ($12, 2 pieces)
chicken, chives, garlic, scallions, fermented cabbage, hoisin cilantro garlic scallion sauce, spicy honey mustard sauce

Bubble Waffle ($9)
bubble waffle, red bean cream, condensed milk

Throughout the week, all dine-in guests will receive a traditional red envelope with their checks. During Lunar New Year, bright red envelopes are traditionally gifted to friends and family. Filled with money, these envelopes symbolize good wishes and luck for the new year ahead.

And on Saturday, February 5 between 6-9pm, traditional Chinese lion dancers from Tai Yim Kung Fu will perform during dinner service for guests in the dining room and just outside the restaurant in historic Blagden Alley — a traditional ceremony which signifies prosperity, luck and good fortune.

Tiger Fork’s Chinese New Year specials will be available for both dine-in, and takeout/delivery. Reservations are available via Resy. For more information, please visit www.tigerforkdc.com or call 202-733-1152.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
