“Unusually high PEPCO bills?”

“Dear PoPville,

I have a PEPCO related question. I live in a small, four unit condo building with identical 1.5 bedroom (roughly 700 sq ft) condos. I got a PEPCO bill this month that was more than double my previous bill ($114). I have friends living in 2,000 sq ft that are paying less.

I haven’t changed my energy use habits in the last month, and in fact, I haven’t even turned my heat on yet this year, while my neighbors have all turned theirs on. PEPCO says this is an actual reading, not an estimate, so they won’t come look at the meter. I am trying to get to the bottom of this discrepancy. They refer me to the DC Department of Energy, which is not providing in-home energy assessments right now.

I’m wondering if anyone living in small condo buildings has experience with having significantly higher (more than double) PEPCO bills than their neighbors? I haven’t changed my energy use habits at all (I swear), and yet their “data” claims that I have just…used more energy.”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
