In Sept, my wife and I were able to to ID fraudulent unemployment claims submitted in our names. I wanted to let you know that I reached out to CM Lewis-George and CM Silverman to highlight this issue and to describe the (frankly) insane remediation process.
(The onus is on DC residents to a) ID the fraud, b) chase down the city to freeze their account/investigate, c) deal with the IRS if funds have been issued, and d) pay out of their own pockets to protect their credit moving forward.)
CM Lewis-George let us know that there are Agency performance hearings coming up, and suggested that affected residents testify about their experiences.”
