Since the pandemic started, I’ve gone on a walk every day before beginning the work day around my apartment in Adams Morgan.
Just now (around 9am), I was about a block away from my apartment next to the Starbucks at the corner of Calvert and Columbia when I was randomly approached by a man in a ski mask. I thought nothing of it, but before I could respond, the man grabbed an AirPod from my left ear and darted over to the plaza directly across the street.
It happened so quickly that no one around me noticed. I’m a little dazed / confused (he punched me in the ear in the process of taking the AirPod), but I think I should be okay.
I wanted to send this note to let other people know that this sort of thing is happening in the neighborhood.”
