4th/5th and L Street, NW

Readers reported hearing between 8-10 shots fired around 9pm Sunday night.

From MPD:

“The First District is currently investigating a shooting that occurred in the 400 block of L Street NW.

A victim sustained a gunshot wound to the right knee. His injuries are non-life threatening. The lookout for the suspects are for 2 black males, one wearing all dark clothing, the other wearing a blue leather jacket, black pants, flip flops and white socks.

If anyone has information about this incident please call the Metropolitan Police Department at 202-727-9099 or text your tip at the department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.”

Earlier MPD reported: “Alert: Shooting Investigation at 1852 hours in the 5400 block of Georgia Ave NW. Lookout for B/M, short in height, light complexion, wearing a black mask and armed with a handgun.”

A reader reported hearing “7 or 8 shots”

Around 6:55pm Alan Henney reported: “DAMAGED FROM GUNFIRE— Georgia Ave NW-DC at Quincy St NW in Petworth. Georgia Ave is closed for evidence collection.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
