I recently bought a 1912 rowhouse in Columbia Heights and the owner/realtor didn’t know much about its fireplace. When I got a chimney/fireplace inspector out here, he discovered (while on the roof) that there was no chimney!
And he didn’t know much about it, which left me with lots of questions. Was it decorative only? How about an unsafe old school gas fireplace? As a history lover, I’m so curious about its past.
And while house hunting, I saw these in other homes so I’m not alone. Help!”
