“Spot of Tea Opens Permanent Location on 14th St”

2400 14th Street, NW

From a press release:

“On October 30th, 2021, Spot of Tea will host a grand opening celebration of their new permanent location at 2400 14th St NW. Founded back in 2017 as a staple of the D.C. farmer’s market circuit, Spot of Tea has spent the past two years serving one-of-a-kind tea flavors and boba out of their NoMa location. Their mission is to create a warm and inviting community of boba-ristas and tea-drinkers, in addition to serving delicious drinks. Spot of Tea will be building on this community-centered vision at their new location.

To celebrate their opening, Spot of Tea will be donating all profits on October 30th and October 31st to four DC-based non-profits centered around the different components that support a thriving community. All customers will be able to choose which of the following non-profits they would like to donate their purchase to:

AsylumWorks helps asylum seekers joining the D.C. community to establish roots by supporting them through the often long and arduous asylum process

Washington Youth Garden leads year-round gardening programs serving 6,500 local youth by partnering with schools and communities in co-creating school gardens

Calvary Women’s Services provides aid to women who are survivors of trauma, in recovery from addiction, living with mental illness, or suffering from chronic health conditions

DAWN, short for Deaf Abused Women’s Network, provides support to deaf survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. They are the only local agency providing this support in American Sign Language to DC’s deaf community, one of the nation’s largest

The grand opening celebration will be held on October 30th through October 31st from 9AM to 8PM on both days. Moving forward, Spot of Tea will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 9AM to 8PM.

About Spot of Tea: Serving high-quality tea in DC since 2017, Spot of Tea uses the latest tea-brewing technology, unique tea blends, and real ingredients–not the standard artificial fruit syrups and powders, because they believe that both tea, and their community, deserves better.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
