Thanks to Ariel for sending: “I may be late to this but v good news for gluten free ppl on the hill!!”

Sweet Crimes shares: “We’re waiting for DCRA inspections, but will hopefully be open soon!”

Sweet Crimes’ website says:

“Catherine (Keri) Lijinsky, founder of Sweet Crimes, grew up in Maryland and has been a “creative” baker ever since she was a kid. Her parents are world travelers and she lived overseas in many different places, including Japan as a child, and England, Switzerland, and the Philippines where she worked in public health and global development. When she discovered that she was gluten intolerant, she became aware of how difficult it was to find a baked good that she could eat and truly enjoy. Her humanitarian spirit led her to continue to help people as a professional baker, because no one should have to compromise when it comes to delicious food. Keri moved back to D.C. in 2013 and first began experimenting with gluten free baking when she made her mother’s wedding cake in 2014. The cake was such a hit that she continued to pour love into her recipes until she perfected the chemistry of baking with gluten free flour.

Moist and delicious, her cakes have gained recognition in the DMV, and her donuts were awarded the Best Gluten Free Sweet in 2018 and 2019 in DC! The “special sauce” is our proprietary flour blend, which is a one-to-one substitute for all-purpose flour for cookies, cakes, pancakes, brownies, and any other sweet baked product. Her bread products are also not to be missed. If you’re not sure, try our bread basket to sample our bakers’ handiwork.”

Stay tuned.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
