“About DC Lime scooters “no ride/no park” zones.”

“Dear PoPville,

Noticed yesterday that -without notifying riders- Lime has created and implemented new “off-limit” maps/zones throughout DC that make it nearly impossible to navigate safely through the city.

As an example… I live near 15th and S St NW. I am currently on Grand Jury duty so I used to ride Lime scooters via protected bike lanes on 15th street, then on protected bike lanes on Pennsylvania Avenue to the courthouse (at PA Ave and 3rd St NW). Yesterday when I arrived near Pennsylvania, all of a sudden my scooter just stopped!

That prompted me to check the Lime maps for DC and to discover these new “no ride/no park” zones. I could understand no parking zones on PA Avenue but why “no ride” since there are protected bike lanes in the center of the avenue?

Take a look at the “red zones” on the Lime app. So many off-limit streets! It cuts the city in sections that you cannot reach without having to cross a red zone. Doesn’t make sense.

Also, I don’t see Pennsylvania Avenue as being off-limit on the Skip, Spin scooter apps.

Any insight?”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
