“Franklin Park Block Party – This Saturday!”

“Presented by No Kings Collective and the DowntownDC BID, the Franklin Park Block Party is a celebration of the much anticipated renovation of downtown DC’s largest green space. The evening will feature musical performances including a DC Funk Brass Versus between between Too Much Talent Band and Dream City Brass. Additional acts include New York-based artist, rapper, poet, and thinker KAMAUU, in addition to local artists Ikey, Layla Khepri, Dreamcast Moe and Reesa Renee. Mainstage festivities kick off at 6pm.

In celebration of Art All Night, the Block Party will also feature live painting and installations. Local artists Kate Campagna, MasPaz, Rose Jaffe, and TrapBob will be painting murals throughout the park. Studio Sonic will present an interactive projection art installation.

Other activities include a Lions of Zion 25th Anniversary Bboy/Bgirl Battle, Silk screening by Soul and Ink, games from DC Fray, and food trucks.

Family friendly activities from the DowntownDC Bid, National Children’s Museum and Planet Word Museum will take place during the day including magicians, jugglers, and hula hoops.

The event is free and open to all ages.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
