“Starting October 1, DC law will require all riders to lock scooters to a bike rack, sign post, or bike/scooter corral after use.”

Thanks to a reader for passing on this note they received from Spin scooters:

“Starting October 1, DC law will require all riders to lock scooters to a bike rack, sign post, or bike/scooter corral after use. To start a ride, scan the QR code on the handlebar to release the lock.

At the end of your ride, use the Spin app to find the nearest parking location. Then, lock your scooter and take a parking verification photo when prompted. Avoid blocking sidewalks, building entrances, driveways, ADA access ramps, and parking spots.

Scooters may NOT be locked to:

Parking meters

Bus shelters

Private fences or gates

Trees

Capital Bikeshare docks

Garbage cans”
