“TIME SENSITIVE: Dog Bite”

“Dear PoPville,

I got a very minor dog bite on Shepherd Street near 14th on Sunday around 3pm. I was not injured but the bite broke the skin and I’d feel a lot better if I could verify the dog’s vaccination history.

The dog was a gray, medium-sized pitbull, and the man walking him was a young-ish, average height, slim African American man. I was surprised in the moment and walked away without following up with him. I’m not out to make any trouble at all–I’m just hoping to verify that the dog is current on his rabies vaccine, or if the dog is not vaccinated, I’d like to stay in contact with the man, so that he can keep me apprised of the dog’s health after 10 days. The rabies shots are expensive and extremely time-consuming (and presumably painful), so I’d really, really like to avoid the shots if I can. Again, I don’t want anything at all from this man except the dog’s vaccine status. If anyone can put me in contact with him, or has any ideas where he and his dog live, I’d be incredibly grateful. Thank you!”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
