New Logan Circle Cocktail Bar, Jane Jane, Opens on 14th Street Thursday (August 26)

“D.C. hospitality veterans, Jean Paul (JP) Sabatier, Ralph Brabham, and Drew Porterfield announce the August 26 opening of their cocktail bar, Jane Jane. Located off of 14th Street, NW within the mission-driven mixed-use development Liz, Jane Jane offers a comprehensive menu of classic cocktails and bar snacks. Service will be offered in the evening till early morning with plans to debut brunch service in the fall.

Named for Brabham’s mother, Jane Jane promises to offer a warm and welcoming experience characterized by gracious Southern hospitality and well-crafted cocktails. Sabatier, formerly of Rappahannock Oyster Bar, Maydan and Compass Rose, oversees the bar and cocktail program. The menu features a wide selection of familiar favorites like a Negroni, Manhattan, Martini and others, in addition to obscure and frequently overlooked classics such as the Boulevardier, Last Word, and Air Mail. Rounding out the drink menu are several non-alcoholic options and a seasonal selection of house cocktails created by Sabatier like the Crop Top, a gin-forward drink with herbal and citrus notes, Pink Corvair, a vodka-based tipple with hints of lemon, curaçaoand grenadine, and new tropical “classic” the Mezcal 75. A small selection of beer and wines by the glass will also be available.

Patrons can enjoy traditional bar snacks such as house-roasted Rosemary & Cayenne Nuts and seasonal Pickled Vegetables in addition to a variety of house-made chips and dips: Pimento Cheese, Onion Dip, and “Jane’s Caviar” (trout roe served with crème fraiche). Sabatier, also a classically trained chef, will oversee the edited selection of bar bites.

“We’re so excited to officially be part of the neighborhood,” said Brabham, Porterfield and Sabatier in a joint statement. “As long-time friends and first-time business partners, Jane Jane represents our mutual love for effortless hospitality and a well-made drink in a beautiful space,” they continued. “That we’ve opened in a city we’ve collectively called home for over 15 years, in a neighborhood and building with such historical significance to many diverse groups makes us even more proud.”

The 850 square foot space, designed by Edit Lab at Streetsense, is familiar without being generic, drawing inspiration from vintage homes and cocktail dens. Honey-toned wood wraps the intimate but lively space, giving a “rec room” vibe and the quality of a family gathering. Intimate seating niches anchor the cozy space against a backdrop of wallpaper based on a 1950s Fornasetti illustration. A plaid mosaic tile pattern connects the bar face to the floor, while mod, dark green Panton pendants contrast a wood-trimmed leather bar-top embossed with a turtle shell pattern. Bright and colorful by day and warmly snug at night, Jane Jane provides a uniquely personable space.

1705 14th Street, NW at R Street

The 32-seat bar with a 14-seat seasonal patio will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. with kitchen service ending at 10 p.m. Seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. In accordance with current DC regulations, Jane Jane will require all guests to wear a mask while indoors when not actively eating or drinking.”
