“Legendary craft cocktail bar the Gibson has set the long-anticipated reopening date for Friday, August 13”

2009 14th Street, NW

From a press release:

“Legendary craft cocktail bar the Gibson has set the long-anticipated reopening date for Friday, August 13, 2021. The pre-Prohibition style speakeasy will return to its original location after an almost year-long closure due to COVID-19. Customers can expect a menu of favorite Gibson original cocktails from throughout the 12 year history, in addition to the usual offerings of pristinely-made classics.

The candlelit aesthetics and jazz-heavy curated playlist will welcome customers back to the newly-refurbished space, which includes two floors and an airy patio. Offering private rentals (including cocktail classes) for groups as small as 6 to as large as 120, it’s the perfect space to gather for a special occasion. As an added bonus, there will be many familiar friendly faces – much of the pre-pandemic staff has returned.

Owner Eric Hilton is delighted to bring back his favorite bar: “We were able to overcome the roadblocks that forced our closure last fall, and I couldn’t be happier to be back in our original space. I expect great things for the future of the Gibson.”

The Gibson will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 6:00 to close. Reservations recommended and available at www.TheGibsonDC.com”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
