“ExPat will be the largest restaurant in Western Market, offering an American style barbecue menu along with other southern staples”

From an email:

“We are excited to share information about a new full-service social bar and restaurant concept coming to Western Market in early 2022. ExPat Hospitality from partners Chef Tim Ma (American Son/Lucky Danger), Jonas Singer (Union Kitchen/Bling Dog Cafe) and Ben Sislen (Kingfisher/The Crown and the Crow) will open the group’s first venue at Western Market, joining the new food hall’s diverse tenants at 2000 Pennsylvania Ave NW. ExPat will be the largest restaurant in Western Market, offering an American style barbecue menu along with other southern staples.

The 8,000 sq. ft. atrium will also focus on community engagement with the George Washington University students and the Foggy Bottom neighborhood as a whole, with sports entertainment, arcades, and table games inside the space. ExPat’s unique partnerships with sportscaster Bram Weinstein and gambling partner SWX Technologies allows ExPat to be an industry-leading food and beverage space with a sports betting component on its own technology platform. Diners will be able to place sports bets with their smartphones.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
