DC Government

“When ANC doesn’t represent constituents?”

“Dear PoPville,

I know from experience that the ANC system is a great way to access and influence DC government when you’ve lost all of your individual battles, but I’m writing to ask what readers would recommend if you find that your ANC rep is not representing their constituents before a DC department.

I wont go into the issue of my neighbors and myself, but we have a documented strong majority (signatures) of affected residents in an ANC area opposing a current DDOT plan and proposing a viable and reasonable alternative plan. The problem is, our ANC rep seems to be taking the side of DDOT over us, and we feel that our proposal is likely to go nowhere as a result. Are we out of luck? Is voting this ANC rep out during the next election our only recourse?
