Driver Smashed Car into Bus Stop in Logan Overnight, 4:05pm Shooting on Longellow and 12am Shooting on Kennedy

Update from MPD: “Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit announce an arrest has been made in a traffic fatality involving a single vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred on Sunday, June 13, 2021, in the 1500 block of 14th Street, Northwest.

At approximately 3:14 am, a Honda Civic mounted the ride side of the curb at the listed location. The vehicle then struck a pedestrian on a sidewalk at a Metro bus shelter. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.!–more–> The driver of the Honda Civic remained on scene.

The decedent’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

On Sunday, June 13, 2021, 29 year-old Gerald Lewis, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Murder II, Driving Under the Influence, and Reckless Driving.”

“The Fourth District is investigating an Unlawful Discharge of a weapon that occurred on June 12, 2021, at approximately 4:05 pm in the 900 block of Longfellow Street NW. Anyone with information or video is asked to contact the Fourth District at 202-727-9099 or Text 50411.”

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fourth District seek the public’s assistance identifying a suspect in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred on Saturday, June 12, 2021, in the 4100 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest.

At approximately 12:08 am, members of the Fourth District responded to the listed location for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect was captured by a surveillance camera and can be seen in the photos below:

Anyone who can identify this individual or has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
