Your Afternoon Animal Fix – AdoPtville

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share for the regular fix please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. AdoPtville is run by a volunteer who compiles these pets weekly from local shelters.

If you’re looking for a dog with a big smile and an even bigger heart, then look no further! Surrendered to a shelter in rural Virginia when his owner decided they had too many dogs (is that even possible?!), Axel made his way to DC in search of a new forever home. He is housebroken and sleeps in a crate overnight. Axel is incredibly smart and knows basic commands and even learned to get his harness on demand for walks!

If you are interested in learning more about Axel, adoptable through Homeward Trails, email [email protected].

Gene Simmons (aka Simmons) is a handsome, gentle boy who deserves a home as sweet as he is! Found as a stray with a bad eye injury, it had to be removed. He’s healing well and cats tend to adjust quickly to a loss of an eye. Simmons starts of shy with new people, but he loves to be pet and to purr. He just arrived to rescue so we’re still getting to know him!

If you are interested in learning more about Simmons, available through Homeward Trails, please email Shana at [email protected].

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
