Today’s Rental was chosen for the back garden

This rental is located at Shepherd St NW near 5th St NW. The Craigslist ad says:

“$1,090 Room with sunroom in spacious rowhouse (Petworth)

Hello!

We’re looking for someone to join us as a housemate starting April 1 (or as early as March 21), to cover the remainder of a lease that ends August 31, with an option to renew. You would be filling the third room in our house. Rent for the room is $1,090/month.

ABOUT THE HOUSE:
The house is a two-story, 3-bedroom, 2.5 bathroom rowhouse in Petworth. In addition to what the pictures show, the house also has a basement with washer/dryer and full bath, dishwasher and central air. It’s a pretty spacious rowhouse, with hardwood floors throughout (except tile in the kitchen and bathrooms). Sadly, no pets are allowed.

ABOUT THE ROOM:
The room is 11’x18.5′, unfurnished, and is at the rear of the house with a south-facing sunroom portion and is plenty big enough for a bed, desk, dresser and bookshelf. A wardrobe and curtains can be included if need be. Utilities (internet, water, electric, gas) are split and are usually around $100-125/month per person, slightly more in winter.

ABOUT THE HOUSEMATES:
We are two early 30s professional women who like to hang out but also enjoy our own time and space. One of us works in media, the other works in physical therapy. We’re both agreeable when it comes to house space and keep things on the tidy side.

ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD:
Petworth is a nice neighborhood full of multi-colored rowhouses on tree-lined streets. The house is about a 10 minute walk from the Georgia Ave/Petworth metro station and close to several bus lines (70, 64, H8 among others). There’s also a Safeway a few blocks away as well as an organic grocery store if you prefer. As far as restaurants and bars, there are a bunch within a 10 minute walk, mostly on nearby Upshur Street and Georgia Avenue.

ABOUT YOU:
Ideally, you are mid 20s-mid 30s, any gender, financially stable (the landlords will require a background check and proof of income) and a low-key housemate. The house is LGBTQ-friendly and non-smoking, so hopefully you are too!

If you’re interested, please send us an email with “Petworth House” in the subject, so we know you’ve read this far, and please feel free to ask any questions. Due to Covid-19, any tours of the house will be done with masks on. Looking forward to hearing from you!”

Ed. Note: PoPville is not affiliated with any ‘Rental of the Day’ properties. Rent at your own risk and proceed with caution as you would with all Craigslist listings.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
