Big Fire on Wisconsin Ave in Glover Park now “under control” by DC Fire & EMS

From AlertDC ” DCFEMS reports a road closure in the 2300 Block of Wisconsin Avenue, NW until further notice due to fire activity. Please avoid the area and use an alternate route.

MPD reports the following roads are closed until further notice due to the fire activity in the 2300 block of Wisconsin Avenue, NW:

2200-2400 block of Wisconsin Ave NW, between Calvert Street and W Place NW.
2300-2400 block of 37th Street NW, between Tunlaw Road and Calvert Place NW.

Please avoid the area and use an alternate route.”

“I just passed down Wisconsin Ave in Glover Park (a little after 8am) and there are at least 20 fire trucks and police cars. The photo doesn’t really do it justice, I’ve never seen anything like this. I didn’t see the fire but there is a strong smell of smoke on the street. I hope everyone is okay.”

“Update Working Fire 2300 block Wisconsin Ave NW. 2 units were on scene of an automatic fire alarm in building across St. when they discovered smoke coming from store on opposite side of Ave. & called for more resources. #DCsBravest have placed fire under control.”

“Update Working Fire 2300 block Wisconsin Ave NW. #DCsBravest have extinguished all visible fire. Checking for any hotspots. Ventilated smoke. No injuries reported. Investigators on scene.”

“Working Fire 2300 block Wisconsin Ave NW. Fire 1 story commercial building containing 2 stores. #DCsBravest have located the seat of the fire and have it knocked down. Checking for extension. No injuries reported.”
