Yardbird Southern Table & Bar Opening April 1st in former Acadiana space

901 New York Avenue, NW

From an email:

Yardbird Southern Table & Bar will officially open its doors to the DC community on April 1, boasting a large menu of inspired Southern classics such as Lewellyn’s Fine Fried Chicken, and seasonal DC exclusives like the Crispy Local Soft Shell Crabs and Watermelon-Tomato Salad.

The Miami-based restaurant’s first Mid-Atlantic location will also feature an extensive whiskey selection, with specialty cocktails like the Gentleman Sakura, made with 2oz Sagamore Spirit Rye Whiskey and 1oz of DC’s Don Ciccio & Figli Cerasum Aperitivo, stirred and served up, garnished with pure orange oil and a fresh local Cherry Blossom.

At opening, the restaurant will offer lunch, supper and weekend brunch, as well as outdoor dining on its expansive patio, pick-up and delivery. To ensure the safety of Yardbird guests and employees, the restaurant is taking the highest level of safety and health precautions as set forth by the CDC and city officials, regularly testing employees and taking their temperatures daily, properly distancing guests and sanitizing the restaurant throughout the day.”

Ed. Note: Acadiana closed after many years here on Dec. 31st 2018.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
