“advice on finding a *young* therapist / psychologist in DC?”

Jake asked: “Searching via google has proven useless – does anyone on #DCTwitter have advice on finding a *young* therapist / psychologist in DC?”

Some early replies:

“You can use a resident at the GWU department of psychology. They’re mostly young and plus you can pay them on a sliding scale.”

“Psychology Today may not let you filter for this specifically, but most provider profiles have a pic and the year the person got their degrees, which are usually enough to make some assumptions about age.”

“DC Talk Therapy”

“My recommendation is to use psychology today to see who is available in DC, and if you’re trying to use the insurance you can cross reference with that! TBH, it was hard to find a therapist in DC pre-pandemic, especially one that took insurance and/or was taking new ppl!”

“Another option is UMBC offers free services in their PHD Psych training program/clinic.”

“Georgetown also has residents in training that are likely younger and it is a reduced fee to see them.”

“We also recommend you check out the Kennedy Counseling Collective team.”

“Boys Town DC did wonders for my child”

“psychologytoday.com/us”

“Dr. Siblo is really good”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
