“What to do about increase in race cars and other really loud cars in residential areas?”

“Dear PoPville,

Since the beginning of the pandemic, I’ve noticed a huge uptick in really loud cars in our neighborhood (Brightwood, upper 14th Street), some of which are clearly modified to have extra loud motors. We’ve never found the street noise to be particularly loud before, other than the occasional siren of course, but I’m now woken up several times a week by the incredibly loud motors on cars that drive through/around the neighborhood.

I finally called in a noise complaint to 311 after being woken up 3 nights in a row a few weeks ago, but nothing has changed. I’ve identified at least 4 separate cars that drive up and down 14th almost every day that make really crazy amounts of noise, including, strangely, a Prius. I’m assuming that the modifications (or lack of mufflers??) can’t be legal, and I’m wondering if there’s anything we can do other than just calling 311 again and saying the same thing as before. I’m chronically ill and sleep is super precious to me, so being woken up over and over again by unnecessarily loud cars is really taking a toll on me–and the baby in the apartment above us, as far as I can tell.

Any ideas? Thanks!”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
