More Shots Fired in Columbia Heights, Four People Reportedly Injured

14th and Columbia Road, NW

Readers started reporting around 9pm: “This time somewhere south of Euclid near 14th. Probably 15 to 20 shots fired in total.”

“About 15-20 bangs in 3 or so bursts, and then a car sped past my place on Columbia Rd. Cops congregating. Lots of sirens.”

“Gotta be around 30 cop cars within 2 blocks of this, and I keep hearing more coming. I haven’t seen any other emergency vehicles, but I might have missed an ambulance if it got there early.”

“I see at least 16 emergency vehicles, almost all police. I hear a lot of civilians screaming. This doesn’t sound good.”

“Don’t know what happened, but HUGE police turnout at 14th & Columbia in last 10 min. Art least 20 cars have rolled up, including a bunch of black & white SUVs which I don’t normally see.”

“15-20 rounds fired moments ago”

4 people were shot. There was an issue with crowd control.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
