They’ve got great BBQ and they’re really nice there, so if there was ever a time to share the love it’d be now.”

Their website says:

“Smoke & Barrel is a neighborhood gathering spot and BBQ joint, or at least it was before Covid took over all our lives. While we continue to serve delicious BBQ for carry-out and delivery, our dine-in business, like so many other neighborhood restaurants, has all but disappeared…understandably.

As the principal owner of Smoke & Barrel, I am reaching out to you all with a plea for your continued support. We do not have the ability to have any kind of reasonable patio space so we rely entirely on our carry-out and delivery but we are on the verge of suffering the same fate as many of our restaurant peers who have recently closed permanently.

It has become too financially challenging to stay open with the diminished sales we have seen. Therefore, I am asking you all to please consider ordering from Smoke & Barrel once a week or every two weeks so that we can make it through these very challenging times.

At this time our financial position will only carry us through Christmas at best but with your help, we can hopefully get to 2021, to a vaccine, and to a whole new tomorrow.

Please help us beat Covid and continue serving great BBQ to DC.

-John Andrade, principal”

You can now order wings from them too.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
