“A new pop-up menu launches tonight at The Red Hen in Bloomingdale featuring ingredients and flavors inspired by the Italian Alps.”

From The Red Hen (1820 First Street, NW):

“A new pop-up menu launches tonight at The Red Hen in Bloomingdale featuring ingredients and flavors inspired by the Italian Alps.

Continuing The Red Hen’s current pop-up series inspired by Italian hot spots, the Aprés Ski menu includes new antipasti like Frank’s Burrata with roasted grapes, fried rosemary and toasted hazelnuts, Shaved Apple and Celery Salad with kohlrabi, lemon vinaigrette, and a rich gorgonzola fonduta, Grilled Pork Sausage served with fried fingerling potatoes and whole grain mustard crema.

Perfect for refueling after a day on the slopes, new main dishes include a Cavatelli with Autumn squash crema, roasted butternut squash, and sage, and Grilled Beef Short Ribs with served on a bed of Anson mills soft polenta with parmigiano-Reggiano and shaved celery, topped with apple-horseradish crema. Dessert brings on the Nutella with a Torta di Nocciole or toasted hazelnut cake with nutella frosting, and Nutella-Chocolate Chip Cookies – both of which are perfectly paired with a new gelato flavor, Coffee Chocolate Chip.

Italy’s alpine regions of Piedmont, Lombardy, Alto Adige and the Valle d’Aosta are some of the most dynamic and exciting wine landscapes in the country. We’re showcasing a host of our favorites, chosen with the menu and season in mind. Find pairing suggestions and featured wine kits on the site throughout the pop-up.

All dishes, as well as The Red Hen classics menu and a selection of beer, wine, and cocktails are available for takeout or delivery daily beginning at 5pm at TheRedHenDC.com. The Red Hen is located in the Bloomingdale neighborhood at 1820 First St NW.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
