Thanks to all who’ve been sending reports about the large police presence in Georgetown. Alan Henney reported:

“GEORGETOWN MANHUNT— 3200 blk Water St NW-DC (3200 blk K St NW, et al). A wanted man has fled from the police. He is on foot, possibly armed and hiding in the neighborhood. He is wanted for armed robbery among other charges.”

“MPD reports a road closure in the 3200 block of Water St NW between Potomac St and Wisconsin Ave NW in both directions due to police activity. Please use alternate routes.”

One reader reports hearing about 5 shots fired just after 5pm.

Reader reports that the suspect has been located and the police are trying to talk to him.

Update from Alan Henney: “update GEORGETOWN MANHUNT: Police have the wanted man cornered on a rooftop near Wisconsin Ave and M St NW-DC. They are attempting to talk him down. Fire engine en route to assist. He is wanted for armed robberies and kidnapping.”

Update from Alert DC: ” MPD reports an additional road closure on Whitehurst Freeway NW between Canal Road and 27th St NW due to police activity.”

Christina reports: “Perimeter has been set up – ladder truck is extended up to the Key Bridge. No foot or vehicle traffic allowed down Wisconsin toward the bridge. Vehicle / foot traffic also prohibited toward Key Bridge on 31st. meaning toward K (elevated portion of K street), near base of Key Bridge but not bridge itself. Waterfront Park area completely closed off.”

“Cop told a bystander the roads will be open in a few minutes. Should be clearing any moment.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
