“House-made Jerusalem-style bagels now available as part of SABABA’s new Sunday brunch experience”

“Award-winning restaurateur Ashok Bajaj of Knightsbridge Restaurant Group is pleased to announce the debut of a new Sunday brunch menu at his popular “modern Israeli” concept, SABABA, located in the heart of Cleveland Park at 3311 Connecticut Avenue, 20008. Guests will enjoy Executive Chef Ryan Moore’s “modern Israeli” cuisine, which draws inspiration from the Middle East, along with fresh new additions served on house-made Jerusalem bagels. Brunch is served exclusively on Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is available for in-house dining, carryout, and delivery.

Guests can look forward to salads, hummus, mezze and kebabs off the regular menu along with a selection of newly added breakfast sandwiches and benedicts, served on potato latkes or house-made Jerusalem-style bagels. Signature small plates include Charred Eggplant with herbed labneh, pomegranate and pistachio; Roasted Halloumi with dates, honey and charred lemon; Grilled Broccoli with roasted garlic, chili oil and charred broccoli tahina; Fried Cauliflower with tahina, golden raisins, dill and lemon; Honey Nut Squash Falafel with mulled apple cider, tahina, sage and onion salad; Kushari with chickpea rice, lentil pasta, fried onion and spiced tomato sauce, as well as Steak Kebab with citrus-herb marinade, served with hawaij-spiced rice, roasted chili and tomato. A selection of house-made Jerusalem bagel sandwiches come with a choice of spreads: tomatoes, za’atar and goat cheese; egg & shug bitter or smoked trout & mahammura. A selection of SABABA Benedicts are also available for diners, served with a choice of potato latke or Jerusalem bagel. Standouts include the Sabih Benedict with roasted eggplant, tomato, poached egg and hollandaise; Lamb Benedict with schmaltz-braised lamb, harissa, poached egg and hollandaise as well as the Smoked Salmon Benedict with smoked salmon, sumac, onion, capers and hollandaise. Menu items range in price from $8 to $14.

For the perfect beverage pairing, brunch-goers can select from a unique menu of house-made sodas, juices, and craft cocktails. Choices include Pomegranate-Rosehip Soda with sumac, rose and pepper; Lavender-Borage Soda with rosemary and lemon, and the Cucumber-Mint Soda with fresh lemon. Non-alcoholic beverages are priced at $5. A selection of boozy cocktails is also available at brunch and include SABABA Bloody Mary with hawaij & spicy harissa and tomato juice; Arak Cocktail with local white rum, tempus fugit cacao, arak and lime; Cradle of Civilization with rye & malt whiskies, sorghum, caraway and sesame bitters, and the Halva World Away with Olmeca añejo, carrot, pistachio orgeat and cardamom. Cocktails are priced at $10 each. Brunch-goers can also enjoy bottomless Champagne, priced at $16 per person, or bottomless mimosa, priced at $15 per person, and available during a two-hour time limit.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
