Ed. Note: They buried the lede – “In December, the team will also introduce a new gin bar, The Wells, adjacent to the two restaurants.”

From a press release:

“Capitol Hill will soon be home to two new restaurants located at 7th and C Streets SE. These dining concepts, just blocks from the nation’s capital and across from Eastern Market, bring new excitement to Washington with community-focused hospitality and a celebration of the flavors, details and moments that bring people together and provide comfort at home.

First to open will be The Duck & The Peach (300 7th Street SE).

This two-in-one New American restaurant is all about letting ingredients speak for themselves; driven by a passion to turn the everyday into the extraordinary. California-inspired with a touch of New England, The Duck and The Peach starts the day with kitchen counter service offering quick breakfast and lunch items to enjoy on the spacious patio or on the go. The restaurant transforms in the evening to a lively, delicious dinner party offering a thoughtfully crafted pre-fixe menu. Brunch on the plaza provides the perfect way to enjoy the weekend.

A special feature of the restaurant is the house rotisserie showcasing nightly specials, including Sunday’s Roasted Chicken Dinner. Meals to go, including rotisserie specials, will be an important focus and are prepared to travel home to feed the whole family.

Breakfast and lunch items include housemade glazed donuts, cinnamon rolls and other sweets; butter lettuce with jammy egg, sunchokes and guanciale; and jamon serrano sandwiches. Dinner menu highlights include shrimp a la plancha with nduja butter; delicata squash with pomegranate, mint and sesame; rotisserie duck with scallion salsa verde; crispy red snapper with green curry; and pear and ginger crostata with whipped goat cream and almonds.

Next door at La Collina (731 C Street SE), you will find a modern take on the classic Italian osteria. Warm, simple and familiar, this family-friendly spot is not afraid to play with ingredients. A walk-up antipasti and panini window will be open at lunch with ample seating available on the patio. In the evening, La Collina, Italian for “the hill,” serves up a variety of homemade pastas, antipasti, salumi, cocktails and carafes of wine to make dining easy; inspiring regular visits throughout the week. To help with meal planning, prepared dinners are readied to take home, along with pasta kits and all the fixings.

On the menu, dishes sure to be favorites include warm shell beans with tomato and sheeps’ milk ricotta, cheesy garlic bread, meatball panini, cacio e limone lumache with preserved lemon and pecorino, steak Florentine for two to four, and Nutella sundaes.

Following all CDC and public health guidelines as well as best industry practices, both restaurants will initially offer socially-distanced outside seating on the large patio area. Dining will then become available indoors. The Duck and The Peach will open for breakfast and lunch starting November 14th. Dinner service and meals-for-home will soon follow. La Collina opens for dinner November 21st with lunch offerings and family meals-to-go available December 1st.

These are the first concepts from Hollis Wells Silverman and her hospitality group, Eastern Point Collective with partner Anthony Lanier, President & CEO of EastBanc. The talented team working with Silverman to create these restaurants include; Chef Jim Diecchio, most recently directing kitchens for Vivian Howard Restaurant Group and Rappahannock River Oyster Company in North Carolina, with previous cooking posts at celebrated DC restaurants Brine, Zaytinya and Iron Gate; General Manager Rachael Haas Stow who’s led teams at Rose’s Luxury and Red Hen; cocktail collaborator Owen Thompson, renowned bartender and owner of Archipelago; and California-based culinary mentor, James Beard Foundation Award winner and Michelin-starred chef Douglas Keane. Restaurant design is by HapstakDemetriou.

In December, the team will also introduce a new gin bar, The Wells, adjacent to the two restaurants.
