Butter Chicken Company Opening Location Near Union Station Monday, October 19th + We Got the coming Dupont Circle location’s address too!

601 2nd Street, NE at F Street back in the Toscana days

From a press release:

“Restaurateur Asad Sheikh is expanding his Butter Chicken Company fast casual concept and opening two new locations, the first at 601 2nd Street NE, near Union Station and the second at 1506 19th Street NW, in Dupont Circle. The 2nd Street NE location is slated to open this month on Monday, October 19th and the Dupont Circle location will open this Winter.

Similar to the flagship downtown DC location, only 300 servings will be prepared per day. Sheikh previously opened award winning restaurants in Northern Virginia (Curry Mantra London Curry House and 1947), before deciding to focus on Washington, DC. Sheikh opened two locations of Bombay Street Food in Columbia Heights and Capitol Hill in 2019, inspired by the bright and vibrant street food flavors he grew up eating in Bombay. He debuted the original Butter Chicken Company in Fall 2019 in downtown DC and the second in February 2020 on H Street NE.

Like the original two locations, Sheikh’s concept focuses on just one dish favorite – Butter Chicken, priced at $11 and served with 2 sides and Naan. Sheikh sent Chef/Partner Praveen Kumar to New Dehli in early Fall 2019 to research Butter Chicken, in order to serve the most authentic, original version to DC diners. Sides include classics like Saag Paneer (spinach and cheese), Chana Masala (chickpeas with a blend of spices, onions, chilies and tomatoes) and Vegetable Biryani (spicy basmati rice with vegetables). For those looking to amp up the heat, Chicken Tikka Masala, a spicy and sweet chicken in a creamy tomato sauce, is also available. Chef Kumar and team will prepare all of the food from scratch each morning, with doors opening at 11:30 am.

The 2nd Street NE location boasts an open kitchen and communal tables, as well as a large outdoor patio, which will be outfitted for the upcoming cooler weather.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
