A reader reported:

“I’m at 7th and O St. and heard about 5-7 shots shortly after 9:20pm. Several police cars, ambulances and a fire truck are responding on 7th and possibly N/M Streets but I can’t exactly see where. An ambulance that had arrived left the scene around 9:35.”

and “Uncertain what I heard just now but I think it was 10-15 shots in rapid succession between 4th & 5th on M/N St NW”

and this morning: “The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. 7th and N ST NW”

From MPD around 10pm:

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 600 block of N Street NW. An adult male has been transported to an area hospital with critical wounds to the body.

Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099.”

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, in the 600 block of N Street, Northwest.

At approximately 9:24 pm, members of the Third District heard the sounds of gunshots and responded to the listed location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 31 year-old Edward Johnson, of No Fixed Address.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
