Lou’s City Bar’s new tasting program is thrilled to welcome Toppling Goliath Brewing Company, founded in 2009 in Decorah, Iowa, for our second virtual tasting event. Toppling is world-renowned for their IPAs and barrel-aged stouts, including being named the #2 brewery in the world by Beer Advocate and boasting the #1 beer in the world since 2015.

Our guides for this tasting will be Toppling Goliath’s Hannah Bernatz and DC beer consultant Jace Gonnerman.

They will walk you through a 4-5 beer tasting including a mixed 4-pack of TG’s flagship Pseudo Sue, King Sue, Pompeii, and either Dragon Fandango or Dolphin Sparkles (limited qty, selection not guaranteed) — all beers with ratings above 4.0 on Untappd. We also have a limited quantity of the coveted Double Dry-Hopped King Sue bottles, available as an add-on for this tasting.

Please note that customers are limited to one 4-pack and one add-on bottle. All orders are served with Lou’s House-made Chips in flavors Salt & Pepper, Old Bay, and BBQ. Orders will be available for pick-up starting 9/1/20, and Zoom details for the tasting will be sent out 24-48 hours before the scheduled event. The tasting will be recorded and a link emailed to all attendees in case they are unable to make it for the 7pm start time. All purchasers are also entered into our raffle for a bottle of TG’s extremely limited release, Morning Delight Imperial Coffee Maple Stout. See full details on each beer below.

Pseudo Sue – 5.8% Hoppy Pale Ale – Toppling Goliath’s flagship beer. Single hopped with Citra for notes of bright citrus and mango – 4.16 Untappd Rating

This rental is located at 3345 18th near Monroe. The Craigslist ad says:

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
