“Confusion Regarding COVID Test Result Timeline”

“Dear PoPville,

I am writing with some concern about the test result timeline for COVID testing conducted at public sites in DC. I received a test last Wednesday and was told both verbally and on a printed handout that results would be ready in 3-5 business days (today at the latest). I called the number to receive my results and was told that the timeline is now 5-7 business days.

I moved a flight (for truly essential family matters) to wait for my results, and now I will miss the flight and lose my money. The extended timeline was never communicated to me until I called for results.

I am very sensitive to the pressures put on the city in regards to testing, as I actually work in COVID testing logistics for another state. However, 3-5 business days is actually an unacceptably long timeline compared to other states’ standards, and to add on to that is pretty ridiculous. Depending on the day of the week, “7 business days” could really mean 12 days. I don’t wish to be dramatic, but that delay will mean increased spread and potential fatalities.

Have others experienced this delay as well? What is causing it? Does anyone know of an appropriate person to contact to expedite results?”

Finding a gift for moms can be difficult. Google “Mother’s Day gifts,” and you’ll scroll through endless lists of beauty products, candles and fuzzy robes. Sure, those are sweet, but sometimes it’s fun to surprise loved ones with something a little more, well, practical!

Here’s one idea: Give her a gift certificate for a home cleaning from Well-Paid Maids. It’s the perfect “thank you,” “I love you” or “you’ve got this” for any mom. She can schedule the home cleaning at her convenience and breathe easy knowing she has one less thing to do.

Our cleaners will take care of everything, including vacuuming and mopping as well as cleaning and dusting countertops, tables, mirrors, appliances and more. Sinks, toilets, showers and appliance exteriors also get a good scrub.
