11-year-old killed in a shooting at 9:21 pm Saturday Night; 10:58pm shooting homicide in the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Ave SE

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Saturday, July 4, 2020, in the 1400 block of Cedar Street, Southeast.

At approximately 9:21 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 11-year-old Davon McNeal, of Southeast, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”

“The Third District is currently investigating an injured juvenile who was brought to an area hospital with a penetrating injury to the side. The family reports that while in the area of the 400 block of O Street NW, the juvenile was struck by an item while Illegal fireworks were going off in the area. The medical staff is attempting to determine if the juvenile was struck by a firework or possibly a gunshot.

“1D experienced an incident involving a homicide.

Regarding the homicide, the victim was shot at approximately 10:58pm in the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Ave SE by an unknown suspect who fled the scene. The suspect is described as a black male juvenile, 14-17 years old, light complexion, slim build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The suspect was accompanied by another suspect who was described as a black male juvenile with a hooded striped sweatshirt and dark pants.”

At approximately 10:57 pm, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 36-year-old Antonio Gardiner, of Oxon Hill, MD.”
