“Local, Ethiopian immigrant-owned 7 Days Market is ready to serve the meal-planning and grocery needs of its neighborhood community.
The store, located at 2310 Rhode Island Ave, NE, has begun curbside pick-up service, and delivery service within 3 miles, Friday-Sunday. As part of this offering, 7 Days is providing delicious and affordable meal packages serving up to 4 people. Options range from dinner stand-bys like pizza, spaghetti and stir fry — all requiring assembly a la Blue Apron — to traditional homemade Ethiopian dishes (kitfo and sambusa, tibs and timatim salad) — ready to heat and eat. Vegetarian and lactose-free options are available. Each assembly package includes locally-sourced items such as: 8Myles Macaroni & Cheese for the Comfort Food Meal; Sommer Street Lactose-Free Frozen Pizza for the Pizza Party Package; Plum Good Chinese 5-Spice for the Stir Fry Kit; and Ravenhook Bakehouse rosemary bread for the Spaghetti Dinner.
Store owners Aster Abeje and her husband Mebea Tesfaye are immigrants from Ethiopia who always dreamed of opening a business. With 7 Days, they’re bringing a small taste of their home country to the neighborhood.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
