“The Woodley Park Window Masturbator is at it again – this time on Mothers Day.”

“Dear PoPville,

The Woodley Park Window Masturbator is at it again – this time on Mothers Day.  Remember, someone reported him doing the same thing in March on International Women’s Day.*  On the afternoon of May 10, I was walking north on Connecticut Avenue NW, right before Cathedral Avenue NW, when I heard someone knocking urgently on a window that was close to the sidewalk.  When I looked over, I saw a man inside wave and then he started masturbating at the window.  He had the slatted blinds pulled down so I couldn’t see his face, only his masturbating.  After this happened, I checked PoPville to see if anyone else reported this.

I saw the March post as wells as a similar post from October 2019. Clearly, this is the same guy from the March post.  Both posts had helpful comments, including a discussion of DC Code 22-1312.  Although the guy was technically inside, he obviously intended to get public attention, and he created a spectacle of himself to the public, including passing children.  This behavior can escalate, if it hasn’t already.  I reported the crime to the police.  Thank you to everyone else who did, too.”

Unfortunately another reader had a similar experience:

“I wanted to share something disturbing that happened to me yesterday (May 10th) – maybe it’s happened to other people too. I was on a (masked) walk home from Tregaron Conservancy. As I was walking on the sidewalk, I heard a loud noise. I turned around to see what the noise was, and it was a man inside his apartment banging on the window to get me to look at him. He was nude and masturbating right beside the window. He was on a street-level apartment at Connecticut Park Apartments on Connecticut Ave NW. It was really gross and felt super violating. Plus, who knows if he’s doing this to children. I contacted the police but also wanted to share here. Thanks.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
