Logan Laundry Update: “Our target date to reopen is Monday, April 13, 2020”

From Logan Laundry:

“Greetings customers of Logan Circle Laundromat. We understand the inconvenience of our business temporarily closing. The decision was not made lightly. While laundromats are essential businesses, just because we can stay open does not mean we should. The health of our staff, customers, and community were taken into consideration. We also spoke with other laundromat owners who had similar concerns. What if our employees are infected with COVID-19? What if our business increases the risk of spreading the virus while the country is trying to flatten the curve?

Prior to closing one employee fell ill with flu-like symptoms to the point she was in the emergency room for three days. Thankfully, she tested negative for COVID-19. All our employees have family and children. While we understand the frustration of not being able to perform laundry, as a business owner there are a variety of ramifications and responsibilities to consider.

We are monitoring the situation closely. Our target date to reopen is Monday, April 13, 2020 and we will follow the guidelines set forth by the District of Columbia and the CDC. Thank you. Stay safe and healthy.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
