“Pandemics suck. But good food helps. So do good people.”

Sour box via Number 1 Sons

“Dear PoPville,

Thx to DC residents doing their part + keeping $$ in our local food economy

I want to give a huge shout-out to all the DC residents out there who have stepped up to support their local farmers + food producers during this pandemic. I’m amazed by + grateful to all the folks getting local food delivery in an effort to “flatten the curve” and help local food producers through this rough patch.

My company, Number 1 Sons, started delivering our own fermented + pickled foods to customers stuck at home–and they quickly started asking how to support other local food businesses. At the same time, Stacey from The Farm at Sunnyside called me to see about us delivering bags of their veggies – their farm borders the shenandoah national park! We’re also working with Toigo Orchards (PA), King Mushrooms (MD), Little Wild Things (DC), Next Step Produce (MD), Path Valley Farms (PA), Breadfurst (DC), Keepwell Vinegar (PA), Dmitiri Olive Farms (MD). We have not had to lay off a single employee yet.

Every small action makes a difference and farmers growing everything from black beans + lettuce to pea shoots + apples can sleep a little easier knowing DC residents have their back.

Pandemics suck. But good food helps. So do good people.”

Finding a gift for moms can be difficult. Google “Mother’s Day gifts,” and you’ll scroll through endless lists of beauty products, candles and fuzzy robes. Sure, those are sweet, but sometimes it’s fun to surprise loved ones with something a little more, well, practical!

Here’s one idea: Give her a gift certificate for a home cleaning from Well-Paid Maids. It’s the perfect “thank you,” “I love you” or “you’ve got this” for any mom. She can schedule the home cleaning at her convenience and breathe easy knowing she has one less thing to do.

Our cleaners will take care of everything, including vacuuming and mopping as well as cleaning and dusting countertops, tables, mirrors, appliances and more. Sinks, toilets, showers and appliance exteriors also get a good scrub.
