Baan Siam posts liquor license placard in the old Alba Osteria space

425 I Street, NW

Thanks to Dylan for sending: “Baan Siam (full-service Thai restaurant) will be coming to the former Alba Osteria space. It’s the same team from Baan Thai (formerly of Logan Circle)!”

The liquor license placard says:

“The Establishment will be a full-service Thai Restaurant. Seating Capacity of 155 inside and a Total Occupancy Load of 226. Sidewalk Café with 55 seats.”

4th and I Street, NW

Their website says:

“We are thrilled to announce that Baan Siam, from the team behind DC-favorite Baan Thai, will launch in Mount Vernon Triangle in early spring of 2020. On December 31st we completed our last service, and our lease, at our beloved 14th Street Baan Thai. And we’re getting ready for Baan Siam to be “same same but different” at 425 I Street NW.

Baan Siam will have some of your all-time favorite dishes from the northern-style Baan Thai, new explorations of specialties from across Thailand, and seasonal menus. As fans of Baan Thai know and love, we’ll be focused on authentic Thai cuisine with ingredients and recipes from Thailand – and with plenty of spice.

The new space will be a significant expansion for the team, and we are excited for the opportunities it offers to explore new and exciting dishes for you. We’ve started retrofitting the kitchen, which is a thousand square feet larger than the Baan Thai kitchen, and will have new equipment like a high-power wok station and a wood-fired oven. We’ll have a wrap-around patio, over 150 seats inside, a private dining room, and twenty beers on tap at the expanded bar. And with an open kitchen, you can watch the magic happen.

The entire Baan Thai team, coming with us for the move to Baan Siam, is hard at work. Chef Jeeraporn (P’Boom) Poksubthong will be leading the kitchen, Tom Healy will helm the bar, and Vena Doungchan will keep the floor humming. We’ve started perfecting dishes in Chef’s test kitchen, and can report that – unsurprisingly – they are delicious.

We want to thank all our Baan Thai fans, and we can’t wait to welcome you to Baan Siam.”

Stay tuned for an opening date.

Finding a gift for moms can be difficult. Google “Mother’s Day gifts,” and you’ll scroll through endless lists of beauty products, candles and fuzzy robes. Sure, those are sweet, but sometimes it’s fun to surprise loved ones with something a little more, well, practical!

Here’s one idea: Give her a gift certificate for a home cleaning from Well-Paid Maids. It’s the perfect “thank you,” “I love you” or “you’ve got this” for any mom. She can schedule the home cleaning at her convenience and breathe easy knowing she has one less thing to do.

Our cleaners will take care of everything, including vacuuming and mopping as well as cleaning and dusting countertops, tables, mirrors, appliances and more. Sinks, toilets, showers and appliance exteriors also get a good scrub.
