Justin sends the crazy shot above around 6:45am: “In Capitol Hill at the 11th St / 395 interchange…there is zero warning by MPD that you can’t continue down 11th St until you get to the cleanup and then are forced into the interstate.”

MPD reported at 5:41am: “First District patrol units are on scene of an overturned truck carrying trash.

The eastbound transition lane from 695 to 395 is currently blocked. A tow crane is enroute to upright the truck. 11th Street SE is blocked in both directs at the 11th Street Bridge.

Please avoid the area if possible and follow the directions of uniformed MPD and Traffic Control personnel.”

DCFD reported: “Crash with rollover I-695 W/B prior to Exit 1D. #DCsBravest on scene with Tractor Trailer carrying trash overturned and leaking diesel & other fluids. Request hazmat unit. Also have debris that has fallen onto 11th street below. Driver self extricated.”

Update from MPD: “Area clean-up has been completed by DPW and all spilled trash has been removed.

All travel lanes are now reopened to regular traffic.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
