Full report from MPD:

On February 13, 2020 at approximately 3:30 pm several armed individuals entered a residence in the 4900 block of First St, NW. Consequently, an exchange of gunfire occurred in the rear of the 5000 block of New Hampshire Ave, NW. One of the suspects was struck, apprehended and charged with Burglary while armed. One weapon was recovered from the scene.

This case is under investigation by the Fourth District Detectives Office. Any additional information please contact 202-727-9099.”

From Alert DC: “Shooting investigation in the 5000 block of New Hampshire Ave, NW. Lookout for Black or Hispanic male, 5’6-5’7, wearing long white sleeve shirt, dark pants, dark shoes and curly hair.”

A reader reported: “Came home from work today and saw the streets around 1st and Farragut NW blocked off by police. I heard that there was a burglary on 1st Street at 330pm, and the victim came out and chased four people down the street, fired at least 6 shots. Folks were hit, but thankfully no one was killed.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
