From an email:

“The U Street studio is Nuboxx’s second in DC, preceded by its original NoMa/H Street studio, which opened in Spring 2017.

Nuboxx is a female-owned business, conceptualized and founded by Rachel Snider who has lived in the District since 2009.

In developing Nuboxx, Rachel set out to redefine the old school boxing gym and create a space that is supportive of boxers of all levels. With technique at the forefront, Nuboxx’s program allows each member to experience a pro boxer’s training regimen through four signature class formats: Technical Boxing, Boxing Conditioning, Strength and Conditioning, and 30/30.

Set inside the same complex as the Sonnet apartment building and Solidcore at 15th & U St NW, Nuboxx’s new space is much larger than its original, complete with two large studio rooms for classes, an open gym with state of the art equipment, full size boxing ring, and spa-like locker rooms.

The Grand Opening will be next Saturday, January 18th from 12 PM – 4 PM and the Nuboxx team would like to invite you and the DC community to join the celebration. Guests will get a first look at the space, while enjoying mimosas and treats from local partners, a live DJ, and more. The event is open to the public and attendees will also have a chance to enter a raffle to win Nuboxx’s premier all access Gold Membership for a full year. Additional details for the event can be found here.

The week following the Grand Opening, the U Street studio will operate on a modified schedule with the full schedule expected to launch by January 27th.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
