Major Police Response in Columbia Heights

The Legal Cliche first alerted us around 9:30am: “Big police presence with guns drawn.”

Update from a reader 10:35am: “I live nearby, saw them bring out two teenagers/young adults just now. Looks like they may have been in the red house because earlier they had them come to the front window on the top floor and put their hands up. Then it was like 30 mins until they just brought them out. One kid went into a cop car without issue, the other just resisted getting in and they pushed him around until he got in. Rest of the cops are leaving now. It was quite the scene over the past hour.”

Mathew replied: “I think there is a suspect in an abandoned/empty building on the block – the police just took a bullhorn, and earlier I heard them yelling to come out with his hands up. He is definitely surrounded.”

Shattered Citadel updated at 10:05: “Fire truck also joined. I’m in a building in the block and was also told to stay inside.”

More info when available.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
