Uh Oh, Lower Half of Logan Antiques Papered Over in Mount Pleasant

3118 Mount Pleasant Street, NW

Thanks to Gabe (and Nora) for sending: “Walked past Logan Antiques, a Mt. Pleasant staple, yesterday and saw paper up over the windows.
Would be sad to see this place gone. It was a weird store and hardly open. But it had so much character.”

In September 2014 Logan Antiques wrote:

“Logan’s Celebrates 50 Years on Mount Pleasant Street

Some have called it DC’S hidden treasure.

Marshall Logan and his wife Willa (Jeff) Logan opened Logan’s Tailor/Dry Cleaners on Mount Pleasant Street, NW, in September 1964. About the same time, the pair embarked on what would become a lifelong passion: collecting art and antiques. Within a dozen years, the sideline had led to a new business, Logan’s Antiques, across from the tailor shop. The Logans loaded the shop’s two floors with old goodies: toys, jewelry, books, African masks, glassware, political papers, memorabilia, cameras, posters, art, maps, tools, furniture, housewares, and much more.

Marshall Logan passed away in 2012, but Jeff Logan has continued to run the business, and September marks her 50th year on Mount Pleasant Street. In celebration she is offering special discounts throughout the store for the rest of 2014. Logan’s Antiques is open Thursday and Friday from 11 am to 5 pm and Saturdays from 11 am to 3 pm.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
