From a press release:

“Mayor Muriel Bowser Presents Art All Night, the District’s only free all-night arts festival, which will return Saturday, September 14. The event will feature local artists highlighting the area’s best visual and performing arts exhibits, workshops, and performances.

Between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m., more than 90,000 art lovers are expected to visit eight D.C. neighborhoods and experience painting, photography, sculpture, crafts, fashion, music, dance, theater, silent discos, film, and poetry in a variety of unique indoor and outdoor spaces located throughout the city.

The Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) and the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH) are co-sponsoring the festival, which is presented by the Main Streets Programs in Congress Heights, Deanwood Heights, Dupont Circle, H Street, Minnesota Avenue, North Capitol, Shaw, and Tenleytown.

The all-night arts festival, modeled after Paris’ Nuit Blanche, debuted in D.C. 11 years ago in Shaw. It is now celebrated throughout the city in eight neighborhoods.

In addition to showcasing local art and talent, the festival promotes neighborhood and small businesses. During last year’s event, Art All Night generated over $2 million in revenue across all participating neighborhoods.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
