Update on Intern, Andres Correa, Hit by Car Friday Morning: “He endured two grueling surgeries this weekend and may lose his leg so needless to say we are all devastated by the accident and want to do everything we can to help him.”

“Dear PoPville,

One of our members, Andres Correa, was hit by a car and seriously injured on Friday morning as he was crossing Georgia Ave making his way to a 6 am workout. A Northwestern student, Andres was staying in Howard University housing while participating in a summer internship program. Friday was the last day of his internship and rather than heading home on Saturday to get ready for his next semester at Northwestern, he’s been in critical care in the ICU and has already had two major surgeries.

He is still waiting on the doctors to determine whether the surgeries were successful and if his leg, which was severely damaged, in the accident can be saved.

We would like to help ease the financial burden for Andres and his parents (who immediately flew in to DC to be by his side) and help with medical costs as well as travel and housing for his family while Andres is here for an extended period of time.

We will be hosting fundraising classes on Wednesday August 7th at 6:00 pm at Bodymass DC and Bodymass Arlington. We will be taking donations at the classes and through a GoFundMe page. If you would like to attend please register at www.bodymassgym.com

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
