“N Street Village is celebrating the season with a Christmas in July celebration at ANXO Cidery in Truxton Circle on Thursday”

From an email:

“The largest service provider for homeless and low-income women in Washington, D.C., N Street Village, will host their second annual Christmas in July fundraiser on Thursday, July 25, 2019, beginning at 5:00 p.m at ANXO Cidery and Pinxtos Bar in Truxton Circle.

In the spirit of Christmas in July, attendees will sip on holiday themed cocktails, enjoy food and drink specials, and have the opportunity to participate in a number of activities:

Shop a pop-up flower stand by Washington, D.C. brick and mortar flower shop She Loves Me,
Decorate ornaments to take home,
Write holiday cards from Casa Confetti Design Studio to be hand-delivered to the women of the Village,
Win prizes in a candy cane tree raffle, featuring small, local, and woman-owned businesses, and
Visit with a summertime Santa Claus.

A partially woman-owned restaurant, ANXO is known for their commitment to the local community and supporting women-focused causes in the city.

“Being a meaningful part of our community is really important to us,” said owner Rachel Fitz. “This is why we have been focusing our events on our greater community and the issues that face us all.”

Christmas in July aims to bring the giving spirit of the holiday season into the summer, in order to continue the drumbeat of support for the Village throughout the year.

“The idea of ’tis the season’ when it comes to giving back should be in every season,” said Village volunteer Emily Gray, who first concocted the idea for a Christmas in July party. “I wanted to celebrate the amazing work of this organization and the women it supports because this is a way to have a real impact in our local backyard.”

Ten percent of all proceeds during happy hour and 100 percent of flower sales will benefit the Village. The event is open to anyone and will not require an entry fee. Anxo Cidery and Pinxtos Bar in Truxton Circle is located at 300 Florida Ave. NW, Washington, D.C.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
